About newcleo

Since launching in 2021, newcleo has quickly established itself as an innovator in the field of nuclear energy. newcleo is working to design, build, and operate Gen-IV Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) that are cooled by liquid lead and fueled by reprocessed nuclear waste. Through an innovative combination of existing and proven technologies, and by reviving a nuclear industry model based on the manufacture and multi-recycling of Mixed Oxide fuel, newcleo aims to close the nuclear fuel cycle while safely producing clean, affordable, and practically inexhaustible energy required for low carbon economies.

With a EUR 50m group turnover in 2024, more than EUR 400m of private funding and over 70 partnerships and collaborations across the nuclear industry, the growth of the newcleo group is supported through the targeted acquisition of key companies with strong capabilities in nuclear engineering, manufacturing, and waste management. Through its workforce of over 800 highly qualified employees across France, the UK, Italy, Switzerland, and Slovakia, newcleo is not only developing and delivering the skills and services required for the group’s own ambitious project timelines, but also supporting the development of Small Modular Reactor supply chains in Europe and beyond.

Overview of the role:

newcleo is driving forwards an exciting and challenging international programme to develop and deploy our innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactor technology, with an initial focus on France and the UK. As part of LFR design development and deployment planning, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Lead for site deployment and logistics for our UK deployment sites to join our Project Delivery team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the development of the construction delivery approach and methods for the site deployment of our LFR technology.

The Construction Lead – Site Deployment & Logistics will be responsible for planning and coordinating the site set up, site operations, construction sequencing and phasing, on and off-site logistics and construction HSSE. This includes planning the strategy for material deliveries, optimising site workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating smooth collaboration with the site owner, neighbouring sites and local stakeholders.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the deployment of innovative nuclear technology with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency. You will be able to bring construction delivery innovations and international best practice to the LFR design development and deployment methodology that will help drive schedule and cost certainty.

The successful candidate will have direct experience in the planning and construction delivery of complex large-scale infrastructure and/or industrial facilities within a highly regulated environment. As newcleo is a start-up company, the role will require a hands-on proactive approach and the individual must be comfortable with early-stage programmes. They must have the ability to work with ambiguity and change whilst establishing a clear path towards successful project delivery. The role provides the opportunity for an individual to expand their capability and experience as the programme grows from its early definition through to multi £billion delivery across multiple countries.

Core Duties:

  • Construction Delivery Strategy & Site Operations
  • Onsite and Offsite Logistics Strategies
  • MMC and Constructability
  • Construction Schedule & Estimate Development
  • Knowledge Management & Community of Practice

Full duties & responsibilities are available on request. The role can be based in our London, Manchester or Gloucester offices, where we have a hybrid & flexible working policy of 3 days per week in the office. There are also travel opportunities to our offices in Turin (Italy) and Lyon (France), in order to collaborate and build strong working relationships across our Global Team. The role will also offer ongoing opportunities for growth & development depending on your career motivations, and is a key position for us to achieve our project success.

Is this role right for you?

We would like to speak to people who have:

  • Relevant industry experience (sectors such as infrastructure, nuclear/energy, oil and gas, process and petro-chem industries), with experience of working on complex multi £m (£100m+) projects/programmes within a highly regulated environment. International experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Clear track record of supporting the development of construction methods and plans for complex large-scale projects/programmes from early programme definition through to delivery, with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in construction delivery in a management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and logistics, supply chain management, and site coordination.
  • The ability to influence engineering design to support the optimum delivery schedule.

Please note if you meet some but not all of the requirements above, we would still be really keen to hear from you!
