A leading services business in York seeks an Interim Financial Controller to support a period of change. Starting in April 2025, the initial contract will run for around 6 months and may lead to a longer term appointment depending on how things develop. Key Responsibilities: Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, including variance analysis to identify results, trends, and future financial forecasts, then produce suitable commentaries. Reconcile spending against whole company budgets and forecasts, and updating government portals. Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers, including liaising with internal executive and heads of departments regarding departmental budgets and external stakeholders/partners on financial capability budgets on a monthly basis. Ensure the business is compliant with all governance requirements. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures and internal controls across the organisation. Supervise, motivate, mentor and lead finance team members with oversight of the day to day accounting entries and maintenance of ledgers. Qualifications: To be considered, you must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a proven record of producing management accounts and leading a small finance team previously. Advanced Excel and good communication skills are a given along with an enthusiastic approach and a self-motivated attitude.
