Are you looking to make a real difference in the community? Our client in Camden Council is seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer to provide critical financial and administrative support in regard to rent collection for the Housing Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of our services and delivering excellent support to both managers and the Council team members.

Role Purpose: This role is to carry out Rent Support duties on behalf of the Council.

Main duties:

  • Setting up tenancy starts for residents and non-residents
  • Processing refunds
  • Arranging balance transfers
  • Processing claims for compensation of charges
  • Liaising with the Council’s insurance brokers for the tenant’s contents insurance scheme, forwarding applications, resolving queries and providing appropriate advice and information on insurance acceptance and claims and any other duties relating to insurance.
  • Answering queries from residents by phone and email relating to their rent account
  • Ensure that tenant’s correspondence is dealt with in accordance with the Councils timescales.
  • Assist with training of new staff and assist with system development and testing as required.
  • Process financial information in an accurate and timely way
  • Identifying and chasing gaps in information where appropriate
  • Maintaining systems with accurate data
  • Maintaining good relationships between the Council and residents, and with colleagues in other teams.
  • Attend meetings and support other teams to improve service delivery

Work Environment:

  • The post holder will be required to work in an agile way in line with Camden’s move to a flexible work environment.
  • The post holder will be required to work as part of a small team, all of whom are working remotely.

Technical Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of Northgate or other relevant computer systems or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate financial information verbally and in writing to residents and colleagues in other teams
  • Ability to deal confidently with Budget Holders.
  • Strong IT literacy and advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Knowledge of financial control frameworks within large IT systems.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Willingness to answer resident phone calls while trying to progress tasks as per the rota
