The role involves joining our Energy Infrastructure Transition team, which comprises a group of highly experienced professionals specialising in engineering, techno-economic, and management consultancy services for the energy sector, with particular emphasis on the power, clean fuels, waste and industrial decarbonisation sectors.
Key responsibilities:
- Support senior consultants in delivering projects to our clients.
- Develop understanding of the energy sector, including strategic, technical, commercial and regulatory aspects.
- Contribute to research and analysis that underpins our consultancy work.
- Manage time across several projects, contributing in all phases from researching and analysing information and data to supporting the preparation of proposals to win new contracts.
- Ensure quality and delivery of your work while liaising with other consultants and teams.
Examples of projects include:
- Network reliability and connection studies.
- Smart grid/network innovation projects.
- Feasibility and implementation studies for renewable energy projects.
- Developing technical and economic power sector regulatory frameworks in developing countries.
- Green Hydrogen strategy for a region or organisation.
- Industrial process decarbonisation.
- Strategies for carbon capture and storage (including negative emissions).
- Heat decarbonisation solution identification including sizing for buildings and heat networks.
- Energy from waste project feasibility.
- Review and optimisation of local and regional waste strategy.
- Transport energy feasibility and implementation projects for the road, rail, aviation and marine sectors.
Skills and experience:
- A strong degree in Engineering, preferably electrical, power systems, process/chemical, energy decarbonisation, or economic subjects.
- Excellent understanding of one or more of power systems, renewable energy, clean fuels, industrial processes, heat decarbonisation and waste and resource management.
- Passionate about energy sector transition, innovation and sustainability.
- Familiar with Excel, including data manipulation and modelling.
- Able to effectively communicate and interact with colleagues and clients.
- The ability to breakdown complex research questions, think creatively and solve novel problems.
- Fluency in English.
Desirable:
- Previous work, internship or project experience in the energy transition industry or consultancy.
- Fluency in other languages, particularly Spanish, French or Portuguese.
- Some experience using Python, Homer Pro, Helioscope, PV/Syst, DigSilent, PSS/E, Powerworld, and/or PLEXOS.
