Job Description
I am recruiting for an Associate Director in Water Regulation with a global consultancy. The role involves:
- Joining the leading provider of strategic economic consultancy services in the water sector.
- Working closely with sector and subject matter experts to become the \’go-to\’ person for water sector economic advice, including developing an in-depth understanding of Ofwat\’s regulatory framework.
- Building relationships with key clients across the sector and with other advisors (e.g., legal and engineering). Projects will be high-profile, such as advising on the regulatory framework for the Thames Tideway Tunnel, water companies\’ business plans, bulk supply negotiations, CMA re-determinations, major transactions, and organizational transformations.
- Applying structured strategic problem-solving approaches, drawing on economic principles, and thinking creatively.
- Engaging in report drafting, economic analysis, and client engagement.
- Managing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff across multiple projects.
- Contributing to team building, market opportunity identification, and thought leadership.
The Successful Applicant
Candidates should have:
- Experience in the utilities sector, whether in industry, regulation, or consultancy, preferably with water sector expertise.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for utility companies, microeconomics, or finance (ideally all three).
- Comfort and experience in presenting to clients.
- Motivation, ambition, and a proactive attitude.
- Strong report writing, Excel, and PowerPoint skills; excellent quantitative skills are essential.

- Salary range of £90,000 – £110,000 PA DOE, plus car allowance, bonus, and excellent benefits.
