We’re currently supporting a Global Commodity trading business who are looking for a Gas Shift Trader to join their team on the Energy trading desk. As part of the Gas Physicals team, you’ll play a pivotal role in optimising gas storage and transport products to respond to rapidly changing market conditions.

You’ll work closely with the Asset Trading team to maximise potential profits and minimise imbalances, while contributing to our strategy development for better portfolio management. You will be responsible for maximising PnL on a Within-Day/Day-Ahead basis, reacting to market fluctuations.

You will assist in building out the physical natural gas scheduling function, including systems, processes, and reports. A key part of your role will be managing Within Day and Day Ahead gas nominations across European trading hubs and UK-Continent interconnectors, while collaborating with TSOs to ensure accurate nominations. Additionally, you will monitor TSOs and check confirmations returned to ensure accuracy and timely processing.

To be considered, you should have at least two years experience in a shift trading position, with a strong understanding of the European and UK natural gas grids, including storage facilities and interconnects. You’ll need to have experience interacting with Front Office personnel and be familiar with ETRM systems.
