Salary: £48-55,000 + company vehicle + performance based bonus
Are you a true transport compliance specialist who thrives on keeping fleets running safely, legally, and efficiently? Do you believe that engaged drivers and operational discipline are the key to a well-run transport operation? If so, we have the perfect role for you.
We are supporting a brand leader in the search for a Multi-Site Transport Manager to oversee their transport operations across key South West sites. This role is pure transport management with a laser focus on compliance, driver oversight, and vehicle safety.
The Role:
As the Transport Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership across four locations, overseeing a fleet of 14 tonne flatbed lorries and 44 tonne articulated lorries, ensuring that all operations meet Operator Licence (O-Licence) requirements and exceed DVSA compliance standards. This is a highly visible, on-the-ground role - you’ll be spending your days on sites so, must be comfortable with the area coverage required for this role.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring full O-Licence compliance, including tachograph management, driver hours, WTD, and vehicle maintenance.
- Engaging with a team of professional drivers operating 7 days a week (early starts, no nights).
- Liaising with workshops to maintain vehicle safety, LOLER checks, and planned maintenance schedules.
- Conducting driver debriefs that are meaningful, ensuring accountability and adherence to legal requirements.
- Preparing for internal and external audits, ensuring every site is inspection ready.
- Working with planners to ensure robust delivery schedules are adhered to.
- Manage checks and controls to uphold fleet safety and reliability, collaborating with vehicle maintenance service providers to minimise downtime.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must have: National CPC (International also welcome).
- ADR certificate or experience with hazardous goods.
- Proven experience as a dedicated Transport Manager, ideally across multiple sites.
- A deep understanding of O-Licence undertakings and DVSA compliance.
- Proven people management skills.
- Strong driver engagement skills - you know how to motivate, support, and challenge drivers to operate legally and professionally.
- Formal safety qualification such as IOSHH, NEBOSH.
- Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel especially) and familiarity with fleet systems like Paragon, TrakM8 and TruTac.
- Experience managing multi-drop operations.
- Background in regulated industries or high-compliance environments.
Why This Role?
- Fix real issues - The South West region needs strong transport leadership, and you’ll be making an immediate impact.
- Multi-site autonomy - You won’t be tied to one location; you’ll have the scope to implement best practices across four sites.
- Pure transport focus - No distractions, just compliance, driver engagement, and vehicle safety.
- All travel & accommodation covered - company vehicle, with accommodation expenses taken care of if needed.
