The Tool Room Machinist is tasked with supporting the production department's daily activities. The role is based in the Tool Room, working with other team members, predominantly servicing and repairing injection moulding tools with a focus on timely turnaround to maintain production schedules.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Servicing and repairing injection mould tools.
  • Inspecting for issues and reporting any found.
  • Reassembling the tools after servicing and returning them to the production department.
  • Machining, maintenance, and calibration of tools, jigs, fixtures, and instruments as required.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Carrying out the required repairs, modifications, machining, and servicing of injection moulding tools and other associated tooling as necessary.
  • Daily servicing and cleaning of mould tools in the tool room or in the factory.
  • Documenting service and repair work by completing electronic records, including photographs of issues documented.
  • Cleaning and servicing other toolroom and production equipment as required from time to time.
  • Assisting in equipment repairs and breakdowns if required.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

What You'll Bring:

  • A solid experience in prototype, low volume high precision machining.
  • Experience with manual and CNC machine tools, including Surface Grinder, VMC, Milling, and Centre Lathe.
  • XYZ Prototrak programming for turning and milling is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly and disassembly and basic wiring.
  • C&G / NVQ 3 in mechanical engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering/toolmaker apprenticeship, with experience in injection molding tools although not essential.
  • Core computer skills using email, Excel, and Word documents.
  • Ability to work in a small team with good communication and cooperation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and keep to deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain a positive attitude and continuous improvements.
