What you'll do The Director, Sovereign Programmes is a key leadership role within Viasat International Government and is responsible for winning and delivering space business in the UK and RoW. The role involves progressing specified strategic opportunities by masterminding capture campaigns, leading bid teams through the proposal and negotiation phase and overseeing delivery once won. The individual will be a member of the Strategic Programmes Senior Leadership Team (SP SLT) and be responsible for delivering the outcomes agreed during the annual business planning cycle.
- Develop capture campaign plans for the sovereign programmes in the UK and RoW region.
- Continuously shape Viasat’s response as the campaign evolves.
- Lead progression of opportunities through Viasat’s approval process ensuring the right balance of risk and reward is achieved.
- Develop resource plans with internal stakeholders to ensure each major campaign is effectively resourced at each stage and progressing towards a successful outcome.
- Develop and maintain internal & external stakeholder maps and implement effective stakeholder management plans to generate Viasat supporters.
- Maintain the pipeline of opportunities in Sales Force with the associated financial data.
- Oversee delivery of projects (via the Project Performance Review) and act as an escalation point internally and externally as needed.
- Deliver the business outcomes agreed during the annual business planning cycle.
- Participate and contribute to the leadership of Strategic Programmes as a member of the SP SLT.
- Develop and maintain deep relationships with relevant organisations including customers, industrial partners and governments.
What you'll need Proven experience in leading large multi-party programme delivery ($100M+), ideally in upstream space business (i.e. space, ground, user and control segments) and within a large programme Government context. Proven track record in winning new business, driving complex capture campaigns, and overseeing delivery of large programmes. Detailed understanding of the space industry and procurement processes used by Governments and Space Agencies. Demonstrable ability to build trusting relationships, conduct business with cultural sensitivity and possess strong knowledge of the marketplace. Outstanding presentation skills and inter-personal skills. Have an active UK Security Clearance or higher, or meeting the requirements to apply for it.
What will help you on the job Strong understanding of equipment programmes and the associated engineering. Strong understanding of Viasat’s technology and products in the USA and their suitability for pull through to the UK market. Willingness to travel when needed.
