We’re proud to be a well-run local authority placing our residents at the heart of everything we do.
We are transforming our approach to procurement. In everything we do and deliver we must ensure best value for money including the external services we procure. The Council recognises the impact these services can have on residents’ lives and so has implemented a new strategy to establish social value as a core procurement principle. We want to ensure that all of our services achieve the best possible outcome for residents across the borough. To do this we need a professional, knowledgeable and proactive procurement team to support the entire Council to effectively manage procurements and spend.
The Council’s procurement team will play the central role in guiding and advising other departments to achieve those twin objectives of achieving both socially and financially valuable procurements.
We are now seeking 3x Category Leads , each leading on a specialist category, to develop procurement practices which maximise value for money and deliver clear social value:
- Category Lead – People Services
- Category Lead – Place
- Category Lead – Resources
In these roles, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that Procurement activity supports the successful delivery of the Council’s corporate objectives and the Medium Term Financial Strategy; and the business objectives of your designated service categories.
What we’re looking for:
- MCIPS qualified (or proven equivalent experience)
- Detailed knowledge of all relevant public sector procurement legislation including the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the Procurement Act 2023 and the NHS Provider Selection Regime 2023.
- Extensive public sector (preferably Local Government) procurement work history at a senior level (Procurement Manager or above)
- Category expert with extensive knowledge of the market with regards to key commodities and categories of supply and services for the Category
You’ll also bring sound commercial acumen with significant experience of effective management of contracts from inception to delivery.
