Portfield School features a fantastic hydrotherapy pool that is regularly used to support our students through a variety of therapy and swimming sessions. Our modern, state-of-the-art facilities offer an outstanding environment where students can thrive and develop. We are recruiting for a part time Swimming Instructor to join us two days a week covering maternity leave.

The role

As a swimming instructor you will support students between the age of 4 – 15 years old, with a strong desire to swim and play in the water. You will help encourage our students to grow in confidence and achieve new goals whilst ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience. No matter how big the strokes, we celebrate all achievements – because at Portfield School, even a splash is a step forward!

Hours of work

  • Monday 08:30am - 4pm
  • Tuesday - 08:30am – 4:30pm

A day in the life of our Swimming Instructor would include:

  • Delivering tailored swimming lessons to students aged 4 - 15
  • Setting targets for each student and monitoring their progress
  • Writing end of year reports
  • Overseeing the swim staff team effectively
  • Ensuring all health and safety procedures are closely adhered to, including reporting faults and maintaining equipment (eg. mould on pool toys etc)
  • Liaising with teachers and therapists to ensure that the needs of all students are met

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 Swimming Teacher or equivalent
  • A valid National Reach Rescue Award / Pool Attendant Qualification or National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
