An excellent and varied opportunity has arisen to recruit for a Service Manager to complement our existing team.

About Us: Unitech Machinery Ltd is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of industrial ovens, spray booths and paint finishing systems, we also have a division in manufacturing industrial packaging machinery. The Company operates in many sectors of general industry, including automotive, rail and aerospace.

Role Overview: As a Service Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our service department. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage the service team, ensuring that all maintenance and repair tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards ensuring key targets are achieved. You will be responsible for coordinating service schedules, spares, breakdowns, commissioning and managing customer relationships.

Main duties will include:

  • Lead and manage a team of service engineers, providing guidance and support as needed, ensuring that all members understand implications for their role and monitor performance against agreed customers targets.
  • Develop and implement service schedules, ensuring timely completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the service team, providing feedback and training opportunities for improvement.
  • Technical maintenance and troubleshooting – diagnose and resolve faults in mechanical, electrical and PLC based systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Costing and quoting for new and existing customers.
  • Promptly investigate and resolve customer complaints.
  • Carry out visits to existing clients to maintain and expand existing business.
  • Responsible for electrical installations and materials.
  • Collaborate and assist with other departments, such as Sales, Electrical and production to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of services.
  • Plan and manage departmental cost requirements e.g. specialist tools in line with budgets.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements, implementing best practices and innovative solutions within the service department including looking for opportunities to increase efficiency of the Service department.
  • Assist with the recruitment of additional service engineers as and when necessary.
  • Monitor service engineers and in-house personnel training requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Responsible for handling customer data in line with GDPR.
  • Assisting with any other task as required in line with business needs and as required within your skill set and experience.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience within a similar industry is an advantage.
  • Must possess an electrical qualification to BS7671 standards. 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification would be an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • To be able to communicate at all levels within the business and with all customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • To have a methodical approach and be able to resolve issues as and when they arise.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own.
  • Must possess a UK driving licence (not exceeding 6 points) and be prepared to travel, stay overnight and work weekends.
