A leading global law firm is looking for a Senior Knowledge Manager with a core focus on content. The role will evolve and optimise our knowledge solutions to deliver a cohesive user experience. You will be a natural leader who can inspire others and drive the firm forward with new ways of working. You will have superb analytical skills, and you will be comfortable consulting across levels and roles, influencing and encouraging effective change. You will be able to work collaboratively with heads of practice, practice-based knowledge specialists and partners, lawyers and business services staff. This is an exciting role for an experienced knowledge content practitioner who has an advanced understanding of legal knowledge and technology. In this role, you will be supported by a global knowledge & research team, with business sponsors and champions eager for your expert lead. This London-based role is a fascinating and challenging prospect for the right candidate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading knowledge content strategy development and implementation for the relevant region and area.
  • Driving the knowledge community to foster connections and facilitate mutual sharing for collective benefit.
  • Supporting practice groups in developing their approach to knowledge management.
  • Working with knowledge lawyers and similar practice-based knowledge specialists to develop and facilitate a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Determining optimal processes for the capture, management and delivery of knowledge assets.
  • Establishing and developing processes and support frameworks to align with practice group requirements.
  • Leading the development of functionality and related taxonomies within knowledge solutions, to ensure they meet practice group requirements.
  • Working with the global knowledge team to develop and implement the necessary quality control processes to implement and sustain the capture of knowledge assets.
  • Collaborating closely with counterparts across the firm to create a globally connected knowledge & research function delivering clear local impact.
  • Collaborating with senior stakeholders across the business, especially the Business Development and Digital Legal Delivery teams, ensuring that the firm has an effective knowledge content strategy, with appropriate people and processes in place to ensure it delivers the right business impact.
  • Continually understanding and improving user experience and facilitating the adoption of new and existing knowledge-related technologies.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities to create and derive value from client-facing knowledge products and services with other business services and knowledge stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Highly experienced (8+ years) in knowledge content management and change management in legal or professional services.
  • Deep awareness of relevant current and emerging technologies related to knowledge and collaboration, and a working understanding of the relevant disciplines and processes associated with them.
  • An understanding and ability to analyse the key elements of common legal workflows, especially those related to knowledge submission and the delivery of knowledge assets at the point of need.
  • Critical and commercial skills, able to position technology systems and frameworks realistically within a complex and changing operating environment.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and autonomously, whilst recognising when best to involve others.
  • Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively with different areas and teams, both lawyers and business services.
  • Commitment to, and experience of, legal knowledge sharing systems and processes.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in building SharePoint Online based knowledge solutions, or with similar technologies.
