Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Cheltenham, UK (Hybrid working)

Role Overview:
To take a senior technical role within the design, development and installation of new thermal energy solutions that support the decarbonisation of industrial processes with a specific focus upon the electrical, control and instrumentation components of a project.
Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…
- Design and develop appropriate electrical and control systems for equipment and/or systems that support the decarbonisation of industrial processes, including heat pumps and energy storage systems.
- Take responsibility for the safety and operational aspects of machine and/or thermal energy solution design, ensuring that they are safe and fully compliant with all appropriate regulations.
- Provide detailed functional design specifications and associated logic charts for the development of appropriate software and/or communications. Understand the function of all components of a machine/system, both mechanical and electrical.
- Preparation of electrical schematics and specifications to create instructions for the manufacture and operation of control panels.
- Programming and troubleshooting PLCs.
- Ensure appropriate Risk Assessments are in place and adhered to. This includes carrying out necessary risk assessments and finding solutions to identified hazards.
- Recording and analysing data and presenting findings in written reports.
- Troubleshooting, testing, and problem solving new and/or existing control systems.
Your previous experience is likely to include….
- Working in an electrical/controls design or site support role.
- Working knowledge of industrial process equipment and its related control and instrumentation systems.
- Working knowledge of control systems theory.
- Commissioning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving control systems of similar or related equipment.
- Producing wiring diagrams and control panel design.
- PLC programming.
- Design of mechanical/fluid/electrical control systems.
