What you'll do The Security Controller will be critical to ensuring that Viasat’s European team complies with security related contractual requirements, in particular with its most sensitive programs. This role consolidates the duties of both a Facility Security Controller and Personnel Security Controller. The position involves frequent liaison with multiple stakeholders across Viasat, the UK Ministry of Defense and our government customers. The role will report to the UK Workplace Services team but will have unfettered access to the Viasat Ltd Board Level Contact to ensure the duties of the role can be carried out successfully.

The day-to-day The role has overall day to day responsibility for all aspects of security and is specifically responsible for interpreting, implementing and monitoring security controls for the appropriate protection of classified assets held.

  • Fulfill the role of FSC Security Controller
  • Take direction from the Board Level Security Contact
  • Receive Security Aspect Letters (SALs), interpret and implement the security aspects contained within
  • Carry out security clearance checks on visitors
  • Ensure controlled and authorized use of mobile devices and removable media
  • Coordinate UK and international visit requests for both inbound and outbound visits
  • Perform periodic reviews (musters) and conduct spot checks of classified assets
  • Maintain company security documents, asset registers, risk registers, and reports
  • Protectively Marked Material Management/Mustering (PPM) and secure disposal of assets
  • Logging in/out of assets, movement/transport plans, liaising with the authority
  • Maintain the Site Security Document (SSD)
  • Preparing and implementing the Company Security Instructions (CSI) and ensure they are made available to and understood by all appropriate employees, updating them as necessary.
  • Ensure all access to sensitive assets is recorded and controlled, meeting the “need-to-know” principle
  • Maintain a Surreptitious Threat Mitigation Process (STaMP) assessment for each secure area within the site
  • Confirm that all security measures for joiners, movers and leavers are carried out, including badges and access rights.
  • Maintain contacts with the local Counter Terrorism Security Adviser (CTSA)

Personnel Security Fulfill the role of Personnel Security Controller (PSC) by managing BPSS screening and national vetting applications Coordinate the aftercare process for security-cleared personnel Ensure employees remain compliant with their security clearance obligations Build programs and processes to support Industry Personnel Security Assurance (IPSA) framework

Physical Security NPSA furniture, keys, locks, logs AACS, CCTV, IDS, building and walls, area security Regular NPSA furniture combination changes Visitor and employee access control of the FSC

Security Management Create internal SALs and Security Management Plans (SMPs) Program security management Advising management on the interpretation and implementation of contractual and legislative security controls. Conduct and administrate internal security audits and address observations and/or non-conformances relating to protective security following an audit Conduct and administrate supply chain security audits and address observations and/or non-conformances relating to protective security following an audit Update and maintain the ISO 27001 ISMS and other security accreditation documents Update and maintain the site risk register Identify new risks, determine mitigations and implement suitable controls and measures Arranging for appropriate security education and awareness training, particularly for new staff, to ensure that they understand the scale, nature of the threats and protective security controls required Represent the business at off-site briefings, meetings and training sessions Ensure the site retains security accreditations (FSC) and maintain any account-specific accreditation documents Administration and management of the Guards

Investigation Security Events, incidents, and breaches Ensuring that any security incident involving classified material is reported in accordance with Contracting Authority (CA) requirements. Personnel TCSM (Technical Counter Surveillance Measures) Asset loss, criminal activity Authority liaison, reporting and investigation

What you'll need Experience in a security role with knowledge of:

  • Facility Security Clearance (FSC) Policy and Guidance for UK Defense Contractors and MOD Contracting Authorities
  • Industry Security Assurance Centre (ISAC) processes and procedures
  • Industry Personal Security Assurance (IPSA) processes and procedures
  • Compliance with Security Aspects Letters (SALs) and Security Grading Guides
  • HMG IA standards (Information Assurance)
  • JSP 490, JSP 440, DEFCON 659A

Required: British National (e.g., able to handle “UK Eyes Only” material) Capable of achieving SC clearance as a minimum (preferably DV)
