The Lavery is a restaurant, café and elegant spaces for entertaining and events located just a stone’s throw from South Kensington station. Housed within a collection of Grade II-listed Georgian townhouses, the building has been meticulously restored to its former grandeur. Following the restaurant’s debut, a ground-floor café will open later in spring, complementing the venue’s expansive event spaces.
Hours of work: Full-Time including some late evenings and weekends (42.5 Hours a week).
What you will do:
- The Event Operations Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting the execution of events from initial enquiry and preparation through to completion.
- Working closely with the event management team, this role will involve administrative as well as hands-on tasks such as event preparation and operational team supervision.
- This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals in the event management industry and gain practical hands-on experience in all aspects of event operations as well as event sales and business development experience.
Your key areas of responsibilities:
- Provide full event coordination of onsite events, from event preparation/setup to breakdown.
- Manage event stock and par levels for both wet stock and equipment.
- Assist clients and attendees, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the smooth flow of activities.
- Fully brief and supervise the food & beverage team and ensure the highest level of customer service throughout the event.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure all tasks are completed on time and according to specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of event spaces before, during, and after events.
- Assist with post-event activities, including gathering feedback and compiling event reports.
- Manage event enquiries, create and send proposals as and when required.
- Perform administrative tasks such as updating our CRM, event management software, menus, capacities, online representation platforms, etc.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quotes and communicate with clients to ensure timely delivery of event-related items.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or coordinator role within an events operations team.
- Previous experience in event preparation, setup and on-the-day coordination.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed during event setup and breakdown.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required for events.
