PURPOSE OF THE JOB To plan, organize and control production of a workforce of up to 40 staff, ensuring that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to an expected quality standard. Supervise and direct team to carry out or execute jobs that are assigned to them, ensuring that all reports carry out their tasks and duties diligently and effectively for successful completion by organizing and monitoring of workflow. Reporting to: Branch Manager and Deputy Branch Manager Core Duties Production Supervisor core duties: Accomplish results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Monitor the progress of each production pad issued to operatives by liaising with shop floor supervisors throughout the course of each day. Ensure production pads are calculated and replenished each day and cutting figures are logged on Daily Cutting Figure calendar by the end of each production day. Complete Daily Factory walkarounds and make sure these are updated to relevant department with the company. Achieve production plan by scheduling and assigning staff; accomplishing work results by establishing priorities, and monitoring progress; liaise with Transport Manager regarding revising schedules if necessary and resolving problems as necessary. Stock takes updated on the system with copies being sent to and Branch Manager every day by 10.00am. Ensure that all employees are operating safely during production by ensuring all PPE is always worn, also ensuring that all visitors are wearing PPE whilst on our production shop floor. Work with and Support Managers by resolving staff problems by investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action. Boost morale of Production staff ensuring a positive working environment for all. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work with customers to resolve any quality or production issues that may arise. Complete staff inductions, Probations and toolbox talks. Log and report all near misses and accidents in the accident book kept within the production office and report these to both Production Manager and Branch Manager immediately. Ensure all required production paperwork is completed daily as per company policy i.e. First Cut Records, Quality Control Check, Vac Lifter Pre-Use, Crane Pre-USE, FLT Pre-USE. Ensure all staff are always on task and that all staff are at their workstations promptly at start times and after break times. Control overtime accordingly against workload and work volumes. Continually assess production levels, to guarantee that all staff are on schedule for completing their production target set out each day and manage throughout the course of each day the progress of this, highlighting all issues and suggestions for resolution. Ensure all off cuts are organised by glass type, and utilised for Category ‘A’ Standards, and reminding staff that glass waste is to be kept to a minimum. Encourage, and challenge any staff where this policy is not being applied. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing Company standards. Check all inwards and outward deliveries and enforce that all loads are safely secured and delivered to a good standard. Report and address any machinery failures directly to Branch Manager immediately and report to maintenance. Maintain and make sure all working equipment and machinery is kept in good clean working order. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by educating and directing staff on the use of all equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Conduct random spot checks on quality of glass throughout each production day to ensure good level of quality prior to dispatch. Weekly Duties: Ensure all production paperwork is handed over to Relevant department weekly for auditing purposes. Ensure a weekly stock take of all Sawn Material offcuts is completed and sent to SHEQ by 9:00am every Monday and scanned into IMS. Ongoing Duties: Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment/machinery. Organising relevant training sessions. Continuous improvement methods explored & implemented to improve efficiencies. Required Experience & Qualifications Experience managing in a Manufacturing Environment. Strong Leadership Skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a team effectively. Glass Experience if preferential.
