The predicted salary is between 46000 - 68000 £ per year.
This Financial Modeller will report to the Finance Manager and will work within the UKPN Services Finance directorate based in our Crawley, Energy House office. You will be a permanent employee with a salary of £58,000.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after a probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

About the department:
UKPN Services is the unregulated business of UKPN. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial and industrial customers, including several private networks that are part of the critical national infrastructure. We provide energy solutions which optimise existing assets, and we integrate new technologies to deliver improved performance and commercial benefits.
The role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will lead the financial modelling process to support sales, marketing and the bidding for new work typically up to £100 million capital cost. You will oversee the complex financial and commercial models to identify competitive advantage opportunities, deliver value engineering and ensure bids are competitive, our investments are cognisant of the risks and opportunities and assessing the impact on the business's short and long-term earnings forecasts. You will partner with the Asset, Engineering, Commercial and Finance teams to ensure all income and costs associated with our propositions and future investments are correctly identified. Additionally, you will develop investment models accurately and work with the Business Development Team to prepare bid documents and commercial agreements, and the Finance team to ensure the investment models are approved. Whilst you will work in Crawley, West Sussex to engage with business activities, you will also need to travel to other UKPN Services locations and project sites to partner with the business development teams.
Skills & Responsibilities:
You will have experience in an analytical or commercial role within finance, consulting or business development. You will understand the Utilities and Energy industry market principles and asset investment modelling for propositions such as ICP/IDNO, solar and batteries. Experience of asset acquisitions will be beneficial. You will have excellent numerical and financial knowledge and a curiosity and capacity to understand complex financial, commercial and project issues. Additionally, you will collaborate with different audiences and levels, tailoring the communication to suit the situation.
To be successful, we believe that you will have the following experience:
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) is desirable
- Experience with accounting principles (e.g. P&L/cash-flow/BS build-up, depreciation/tax calcs)
- Experience working with modelling standards e.g. FAST standard
- Good data manipulation skills
- Experience of PowerBI is desirable (Knowledge of SQL is a plus, but not essential)
- Experience of asset acquisition
- You will work directly with clients and business partners
- Exposure to project finance/debt raising processes beneficial
