Our team of hundreds of skilled experts keep Formula 1 moving. We’re on the lookout for a Track Systems Technician! Reporting to the Track Systems Team Manager, the main purpose of this role is the installation, deployment and management of the F1 timing data acquisition and communications system at F1 race locations.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Competently install the timing loops, beacons and track temperature sensors in the surface of the track. This involves manual work including digging, soldering, operation of machinery and tools (for which health and safety training will be provided).
  • Work in a safe way with consideration to company and location specific Health and Safety requirements.
  • Installation, testing and termination of co-axial cable and multi core twisted pair data cable used for loop and decoder data communications.
  • Test and verify correct function of all timing data acquisition equipment and related hardware.
  • Fault finding on basic IT networks and cable systems.
  • Compile and publish reports for the department.
  • Be prepared to work in an outdoor environment in a multitude of global destinations.
  • Ensure department and company tools and equipment are correctly used, maintained and freighted between races.
  • Read, comprehend and work to the F1 Circuit Drawings to achieve the correct equipment setup for a race.
  • Learn to configure and monitor incoming and outgoing data using F1 software to ensure correct function of company systems. Report issues to the F100 team and associated clients.
  • Mark loop IDs on track with spray paint.
  • Install beacon fittings in track and pit lane.
  • Mark front axle points for pit-stop boxes in pit lane.
  • Configure and deploy the timing decoders, pit lane nodes and workshop furniture.

About You:

  • Previous experience working in similar environment such as electronics or network IT.
  • Experience in fault finding on electrical/electronic wiring systems.
  • Experience in reading, understanding and working to wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Well presented, organised and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong team working ability – capable of working outdoors in both hot and cold weather.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis for extended periods (1 to 3 weeks).
  • Willingness to learn new skills and a keen interest in the technical subjects related to the job role.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to express oneself accurately and concisely.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Current UK Driving License.
