We are recruiting on behalf of an exciting niche market engineering business based in Norwich. This business operates in a fascinating sector and is seeking a Development Engineering Technician with the capability to blend hands-on technical skills with a design- and development-based mindset.
In this role, you will be directly involved in a wide range of hands-on activities that contribute to the success of R&D projects, putting designs into practice and offering feedback on viability and usability. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to develop and improve prototype systems, helping to shape the future of the organisation's product lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing design concepts and engineering approaches
- Assisting in the design and testing of prototype systems and test equipment
- Building and maintaining electrical, mechanical, and electronic apparatus
- Contributing to departmental activities, focusing on innovation and effective communication
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding across systems and equipment
- Taking ownership of delegated tasks and ensuring timely reporting and issue resolution
- Working within strict timelines to facilitate trials, testing, and project delivery
- Managing lab planning, workspace cleanliness, and equipment maintenance
- Contributing to the creation of engineering reports, requirements, interfaces, and validation specifications

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- HNC/D, Degree in Engineering, or relevant experience in a similar role
- Strong background in mechanical fitting, wiring and cable assembly, PCB assembly, and fault-finding
- Experience with electrical and mechanical systems
- Electrical installation qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition)
- Forklift Truck qualification
- CAD design experience
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel as required (both in the UK and abroad)
- Valid passport with no travel restrictions
