At a glance The Director is positioned in UK NBFI, part of UK Corporate & Institutional Clients (\βCIC\β), and reports to the Head of UK CIC and Head of NBFI. UK NBFI is a coverage team within UK CIC and also part of global FI. For the FI sector, ABN AMRO pursues a pan-European client coverage strategy. UK NBFI covers primarily insurance and reinsurance companies domiciled in the UK or in UK affiliated jurisdictions (Ireland, Channel Islands, Bermuda). The CIC Coverage function is the primary client interface and client relationship management role for serving corporate and financial institution clients. The clients are organised by sectors and themes (e.g. Insurance, Banks, New Energies and Mobility & Logistics) and banker coverage mirrors ABN AMRO\βs defined strategy. This includes ABN AMRO\βs focus / strategy on sustainability. Coverage bankers liaise between their clients and product partners, sector heads and functions in the UK & Netherlands to deliver solutions to UK / Ireland clients. The role of the Director is to manage and develop a portfolio of new and existing clients, maximising returns whilst adhering to ABN AMRO\βs moderate risk profile. The main products offered are Loans, DCM, Global Markets products (FX and IR), M&A, ECM, Transaction Banking, Trade Finance and Commercial Finance & Leasing. Derivative Clearing may also be in scope as appropriate. Your job The role of the Director is to proactively develop and manage a portfolio of UK and Irish insurance clients, both life and non-life, in line with CIC strategic ambitions. This will be achieved through a combination of internal work with product, risk and solutions partners and direct interaction with clients, prospects and market introducers. In addition, they will be expected to take a leading role in the training and development. Key components of role will include: β’ Act as the primary contact for all client interaction within their portfolio. This includes leading the relationship with senior client participants (CFO/CEO) and continuously develop the client relationship to ensure ABN AMRO is viewed as a trusted advisor. β’ Steer the commercial activities relating to their portfolio, taking account the interests of the client. β’ Act as first line of defence for the bank with a focus on risk management and mitigation. β’ Generate leads and business opportunities with both new prospective clients and existing portfolio. This includes efforts to achieve the bank\βs sustainability agenda. β’ Generate leads for other business lines and other teams within the wider bank. β’ Organise and manage the client service teams,, ensuring efficient and effective coverage to manage P&L and balance sheet targets, maximising risk-adjusted returns. Take responsibility for a streamlined execution and ensuring superior delivery of relevant products and solutions to meet client requirements. β’ Responsible for making and executing account plans for clients in cooperation with the relevant product departments, taking into account the bank\βs risk appetite framework. β’ Work with colleagues across ABN AMRO\βs geographical footprint to ensure consistent application of the bank\βs chosen themes. β’ Responsibility for executing CIC\βs chosen strategy in the UK & Ireland, for clients within their relevant sectors. β’ Demonstrate a full understanding of internal and external developments relevant to the CIC organisation, clients and products and act accordingly to achieve objectives. β’ Expected to be / become a knowledge expert in relation to their client portfolio\βs core sector(s) and proactively share relevant information with all appropriate stakeholders. β’ Support the Head of Coverage UK & Ireland in the development and implementation of the business plan and budget. β’ Actively engage to ensure close collaboration with other departments and product areas. β’ Proactively contribute towards priorities of the UK Coverage team and the wider bank. Show a willingness to challenge the status quo in a professional manner as and when appropriate. β’ Ensure correct application of the relevant risk, compliance and sustainability policies of the bank. β’ Responsible for the effective cooperation with Corporate Lending, Risk Management, Compliance and other relevant stakeholders within the bank. β’ Ensure all CRM systems, deal pipelines and relevant internal reports are regularly maintained in a timely manner. β’ Initiate and maintain contacts within and outside the bank in order to have a network of relationships from which the bank can benefit. Represent the bank in social, cultural and professional organisations and events. β’ Identify and suggest improvements, where applicable, to aid in the optimal functioning of the team.
