1. We are looking to hire an ambitious, confident and determined Solicitor to join our Family Law team preferably with at least two years-experience of dealing with family law cases, possess exceptional advocacy skills and have a working knowledge and understanding of Legal Aid. You will work closely with the Head of the Family Department and together build and develop the Department for the future. We are a Lexcel accredited firm. You will, at all times, have to conduct yourself in accordance with the standards dictated by Lexcel which is an accreditation in legal excellence. You must possess excellent client care skills and have an ability to identify client needs and manage their expectations. Time-management is non-negotiable and you must possess an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You will also require strong organisational skills and be a confident and good advocate. You will be expected to run a caseload of predominantly family matters or matters closely linked to family work, including: * Divorce and Dissolution * Financial Remedy Proceedings * Private and Public Children Act Proceedings * TOLATA * Wills * LPAs The role will include: * Taking initial instructions and advising clients * Assessing legal aid eligibility and submitting applications to the Legal Aid Agency when appropriate * Preparing applications to the Court / using MyHMCTS * Representing clients at Court Hearings * Preparing Court Bundles * Preparing Briefs to Counsel when necessary * Providing initial free consultations to prospective clients * Preparing Bills * File management Essential skills: * Knowledge of all areas of family law * Advocacy * Business development and networking * Manage time effectively and convert this to realised bills It is a full-time position, Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.15 pm. 20 days of holiday plus all Bank Holidays and Christmas shutdown.
