This appointment is for a Specialist Doctor to join the newly merged, dynamic Dermatology team at University Hospital Dorset. The team delivers the full range of Dermatology services to patients from Dorset and Hampshire from 2 well-resourced units at Christchurch Hospital and Poole Hospital., The appointee will be expected to play a full role in the delivery of the Dermatology service for both in-patient and out-patient activity, and lead continued development and Quality Improvement.
Sub-specialty Interests would be supported to be developed potentially including vulval dermatology, paediatric dermatology, patch testing, advanced surgery, Moh’s surgery, Medical Dermatology and Skin pathology.
All Specialist doctors are required to have a job plan setting out their main duties and responsibilities including a work programme specifying their weekly timetable. The job plan will have both fixed and flexible sessions.
The Trust is seeking to implement changes which will provide appropriate and timely care for all our patients. As the service develops into a twenty-four hour, seven day service, the Trust will extend the working week for all staff. This may lead to job plans which involve three session days and week-end working.
Supporting Professional Activities
The job plan will include 1.5 PAs for supporting professional activities required for revalidation including appraisal, CPD, audit activity and teaching. Discretionary additional SPAs may be available for specific additional activities taken on including lead roles to support the department and the strategic plan and objectives of the Trust as agreed with the Clinical Director.
Funding is available for 1 full-time post with flexibility to consider part-time applicants to complement the job plans of current senior Doctors.
We would welcome sub-specialty interests to complement the current team including vulval dermatology, paediatric dermatology, patch testing, Moh’s micrographic surgery, Medical Dermatology, and/or Pathology.
The post holder will initially be based at the Poole and Christchurch sites, but may have clinical duties at Bournemouth hospital.
