A specialist school is actively looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to assist with speech, language and communication difficulties as well as those with complex learning needs. This setting in Bexhill-On-Sea caters for residential and day pupils between the ages of 5 to 19. They are proud to say that they are a total communication environment. This ensures all students can make their wishes known and staff will respond in the best communication style that suits them. The main aim for this school is to provide the integrated support they need to encourage pupils to achieve their potential and take their place in the community, confidently and independently.

Responsibilities of an Occupational Therapist:

  • Assess childrenโ€™s learning and emotional needs.
  • You will be a member of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for assessing, planning and delivering individualised intervention programmes for a defined caseload.
  • You will work with children individually or in small groups within classroom-based sessions and specialist therapy spaces to enable pupils to access the curriculum and promote meaningful engagement in school-based tasks.
  • Build trusting relationships with students.
  • Write reports making recommendations on action to be taken.

Requirements of an Occupational Therapist:

  • Must have a degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC and RCSLT registration is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Adaptable and positive approach.
