Trust "Champion" Required To Take The Lead On a Busy Department at This Fantastic Sussex Law Practice. An excellent opportunity to be the subject matter expert at a very well-established practice that continues to grow. A broad and varied mix of legacy trusts acquired through acquisition and an eye on growing this area of the practice in future.
The firm are established at multiple locations across Sussex, with a reputation for providing excellent advice in a friendly and personable manner with the client always being of paramount importance. If you're an experienced Tax / Trusts professional with relevant qualifications (STEP, CIOT or AAT) this could be a great opportunity to have full autonomy over your work and be a highly prized asset to the practice and its future growth.
The role itself will cover the following aspects amongst other duties:
- Maintenance of a significant volume of pre-existing trusts
- Winding up of trusts with associated IHT implications, sale of investments etc, income tax and CGT
- New trusts, following an existing probate matter, needing asset transfers, trust registration etc.
- New trusts requiring initial advice, drafting documents, advising on tax and alternative options.
- Stockbroker share portfolios requiring oversight on the investment sales, income and relevant tax allowances are utilised.
- Preparing trust accounts and dealing directly with clients/trustees/beneficiaries
- Assisting the practice on income tax returns for estate administration periods and general advice
You'll enjoy support from a dedicated assistant, tax software, trust accounts and case management, with a plethora of precedents and other material in place to support you in your endeavours. Salary is competitive and open to discussion (published figures being a "guide") in line with experience, good annual leave, healthcare plans and onsite parking too.
