The Role: As a Process Safety Engineer, you will facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPAs), provide process safety expertise, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Covering sites in the UK and Saudi Arabia, the role requires regular travel between the two countries. You will work closely with site teams and global stakeholders, driving safety improvements through advanced process safety tools and best practices.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Facilitate PHAs and LOPAs to evaluate and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Plan, execute, and document PHAs/LOPAs using tools like Sphera Advanced Risk Assessment (ARA).
- Provide guidance on process safety topics such as pressure relief systems, safety instrumentation, facility siting, and Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA).
- Identify and address gaps in process safety information and documentation.
- Support sites in developing cost-effective safety recommendations and prioritised action plans.
- Deliver process safety training and risk management support for SI Group facilities, tolling manufacturers, and acquisition assessments.
Creating Extraordinary Starts With:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
- At least five years of experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or related sectors.
- One or more years of PHA and LOPA facilitation experience.
- Proficiency in PHA software (e.g., Sphera ARA).
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., COMAH) and industry standards (e.g., NFPA, API, ASME, IEC).
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
- Flexibility for travel: 20%-50% to Saudi Arabia and up to 5% globally.
- Fluency in English (Arabic proficiency is advantageous).
