We have a current opportunity for a Managing Director on a permanent basis. The position will be based in the Tyneside area with a leading ship to ship services company.

Primary Purpose

To ensure the smooth running of the Company overseeing the day to day running of the Company including the operations, business development, and finance functions, whilst maintaining healthy business relationships with existing clients to grow the business portfolio. To set out action plans in line with the Company’s strategy and additionally ensure that operations are carried out up to industry standards, raising and processing any documentation on time and in accordance with the standard procedures as laid down in the Company’s manual.

Main Duties

  • Grow the business profitably in line with the Group’s targets, strengthening relationships with existing customers.
  • Set up the business plan to achieve the agreed targets and growth.
  • Direct and manage the business portfolio in accordance with the business plan as agreed by the Board of Directors reflecting the Company’s principles, policies and procedures.
  • Contribute towards the formulation of the Company’s strategy, annual business plans, budgets, policies and procedures in running the business.
  • Build the capabilities of the Organisation and establish high standard organisational practices.
  • Monitor very closely and control all financial figures and ensure that all measures and actions are taken to maximise profit.
  • Ensure that the key resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Build and maintain relationships with all business stakeholders.
  • Ensure rapid follow up to customers’ inquiries.
  • Establish departmental goals and tasks in line with key performance indicators whilst assisting the Senior Management team members in their achievement.
  • Achieve operational excellence and best-in-class project delivery through defining and implementing efficient and effective processes.
  • Gather the relevant data to use as management information and compare with budgeted figures and targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities by exploring potential customers and markets and analyse their viability.
  • Develop and implement strategies for new services and business.
  • Win new profitable business.
  • Supply agreed reports and information in a timely manner to the Division Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.
  • Organise and participate in conferences/conventions/trade-fairs as a Company representative.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct, ethics and integrity in the provision of the business development and technical services operations.
  • Contribute as a Managing Director to all other duties as and when requested by the Division Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.

Technical Skills and Work Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in the oil & gas service industry specifically in providing Ship-to-ship operational services to O&G customers including but not limited to global and national Oil companies, trading houses etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years running a similar business as Managing Director in the UK with an annual revenue >20m USD.
  • Has strong network of operators within the marine and oil & gas industries.
  • Warranted marine engineer from a recognized educational institution, preferably with a qualification in business management.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in devising and executing growth strategies, change management and complex deal structuring in a B2B service environment.
  • Experience working within a multi-cultural environment and multi-level corporate reporting structure/board of directors.
  • Ability to run the business autonomously from a P&L perspective, working within the parameters and reporting structure set by the Group.
  • In possession of excellent negotiation skills and analytical skills particularly in interpreting, using, analysing and presenting data.
  • Ability to develop, drive and implement working methods with an all-round business management skill.
