Rights of Way Officer Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week Monday to Friday Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham Via is currently looking for two Rights of Way Officer to join our Rights of way Team based at our Trent Bridge House Office and covering an area within Nottinghamshire. You will manage the countys rights of way network to ensure it is open, safe and available for use by the public in line with statutory obligations, and to deliver the countys Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) The Job Key areas of responsibility will include: Plan a programme of maintenance and improvement works to ensure a safe and available network. Undertake and manage the design and implementation of Rights of Way maintenance and improvement works. Investigate and respond to complaints and enquiries from key stakeholders internally and externally to ensure that the Authoritys statutory duties are implemented. Review and provide expert response on behalf of the client on planning, highway and other internal and external consultations. Understand and fulfil as appropriate, duties as client, designer and contractor to ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation. Investigate, review and assess any infringement of RoW network to enable the client to take remedial enforcement action to meet the statutory duty. Maintain accurate asset records to facilitate network resource and performance management and provide evidence base supporting policies laid out in the ROWIP. Provide specialist technical knowledge and advice to other teams in the company, its clients and to outside organisations at a local level to support project delivery. The Person Mainly you will be excited to be a vital part of our Rights of Way Team, but there are just a few things wed like from you: Enjoyment of the countryside and the ability to walk in remote areas. An ability to read and understand maps. An aptitude for dealing with a wide range of people, sometimes in difficult situations. A willingness and ability to challenge yourself to learn new skills such as legislation, contract management, and GIS. An ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure and prioritise issues Have some experience with managing works and contractors. Ability to use computerised records, MS TEAMS, databases, sharepoint and have reasonable computer skills generally. Full, valid UK driving licence and an available vehicle for site visits.
