A well-established retail business is seeking a Sous Chef for a permanent position near Southampton. This role offers a 38-hour contract with day shifts only and a salary of circa £31,000 plus benefits.
The venue features a large, high-volume on-site restaurant providing breakfast and lunch dining, operating between the core hours of 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and between 10:00am and 4:00pm on Sundays. The restaurant offers a full breakfast service until 11.30am and a variety of hot food served counter style, including fresh pizzas, home-cooked pies, and an on-site carvery.
As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the management of all aspects of the kitchen operation
- Completing tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
- Having knowledge of each section, supporting team members as required
- Managing your kitchen team
- Deputising for the Head Chef in their absence
- Ensuring Health & Safety, EHO, and HACCP standards and procedures are followed
- Assisting with training, teaching new starters, and supporting junior staff
- Liaising with other departments as part of the senior management team
- Completing stock checks, audits, and ordering
We are looking for a leader for the kitchen team. While all applications are considered, this role is ideally suited to someone with experience across all kitchen sections and some kitchen management experience. It would be beneficial if you:
