Job Title: Assistant Buyer We are currently working with a growing, privately owned developer with an expanding portfolio of residential projects in the Northamptonshire region. Currently working on two key projects in Stevenage and Northampton, with three more exciting developments planned for 2025 in Wellingborough, Houghton Conquest, and Arlesey. We are seeking a motivated and proactive Assistant Buyer to join the team and help drive success in these new and ongoing developments. The Role: As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the procurement process for construction materials, ensuring cost-effective and timely sourcing to meet project needs. You will work closely with the senior buying team and project managers to deliver materials and supplies on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the procurement of construction materials for various projects. Manage supplier relationships and coordinate deliveries to ensure materials are available when needed. Monitor stock levels, order materials, and handle deliveries to the site. Ensure that materials are of the right quality and within budget. Maintain up-to-date material knowledge and market trends to make informed buying decisions. Support the team with administrative tasks related to purchasing, budgeting, and reporting. About You: A solid understanding of the construction industry and material knowledge (previous experience in a builders merchant or similar environment is desirable). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Good communication and negotiation skills to build relationships with suppliers and contractors. An understanding of budgeting and cost control.
