About the Role

This is a practical leadership position where you'll take an active role in site operations while supervising squads, supporting junior operatives, and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and coordinating daily site operations and small teams
  • Leading by example in all groundworks and civil engineering tasks
  • Upholding quality standards and ensuring safe working practices
  • Managing site diaries, material usage, and record keeping
  • Communicating with clients, consultants, and senior management
  • Supporting the training and development of less experienced operatives
  • Planning daily site activities and addressing any on-site issues as they arise

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced, confident site operative with strong communication and leadership skills. You'll be organised, positive, and ready to take on-site ownership.

You’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience in groundworks and/or civil engineering
  • Confidence supervising others while staying hands-on
  • A collaborative, professional approach with clients and teams
  • Solid understanding of site safety and risk assessment procedures
  • A dependable, solutions-driven attitude
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when required

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Valid CSCS card (Gold preferred)
  • Demonstrable supervisory experience in a similar role

Desirable (but not essential):

  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification
  • First Aid at Work
  • Plant operation tickets (e.g. excavator, dumper, roller)
