We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the Dispensary delivering and developing pharmacy services to the Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services Division. The Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Associated Services (REAS) provides acute psychiatric and mental health services, which also includes the treatment of individuals with learning disabilities, dementia and the management of young people’s mental health.
Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for learning and development, a professional attitude and a passion for working in healthcare with the potential to contribute to the delivery of our high-quality pharmaceutical care. As well as a drive for personal development, candidates should demonstrate personal values aligned with those of our organisation.
We are committed to supporting our staff in career progression, providing a supportive environment for learning new skills. There will also be opportunities to undertake qualifications such as the HNC and as a Final Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician.
You must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, have a certificate in pharmacy services (or equivalent) and an SVQ level 3 in pharmacy services.
This post will support evening and weekend working, when required.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
