My Government Client seeks a dynamic, talented and technically astute 3rd Line Server hands-on Network & Infrastructure Engineer with +4 years experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in 3rd Line Server Builds, Configuration, Installation & Troubleshooting of Firewalls (ideally Palo Alto), Switches/Routers, Network Authentication, DNS and any skills in EntraID, Hybrid AD & Windows Server are a huge bonus.

GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS ARE:

  • Any virtualisation (but preference for hyperv/nutanix)
  • Min 1-2 years previous experience in infra team
  • WinServer 2012 or higher
  • Certifications (public, internal)
  • Clearpass (or other network auth solution)
  • Entra ID, Entra Enterprise applications, Entra Conditional Access
  • Hybrid mail & mimecast
  • Hybrid AD & multi-tenant/multi-forest AD
  • Palo Alto Firewall admin (Security policies, troubleshooting, NAT, IDS/IPS) or other firewall to similar management level
  • Switching/Routing (Cisco or Alcatel)
  • Kemp (or other load balancers)
  • IIS/Apache (applying certs, binding ports, troubleshooting)
  • Ansible (running scripts, creating a bonus)
  • Netbox
  • Solarwinds
  • ITIL/Prince2/Agile
  • Creating and following technical documentation
  • Supporting other teams including being a point of escalation
  • Experience of technical change processes
  • Able to engage in technical discussion, present ideas and solutions to common issues
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Good general admin & time reporting skills
  • Able to attend main office for team days & team meetings
  • Able to attend council sites as needed to resolve issues/support planned works
  • Able to join on-call rota, maintenance weekend rota and be available for planned out of office
  • Self-motivated & able to work from home without distractions
  • Within 30 miles or 1 hour of our HQ sites with own transport (Pathfinder House, Mandela House, South Cambs Hall)
