Future Teacher Graduate Training Programme (Northamptonshire)

Are you passionate about teaching and looking for a structured, rewarding route into the profession? Our Future Teachers Programme is designed for recent graduates eager to gain invaluable classroom experience and take the first step toward becoming a qualified teacher. The programme is open to graduates in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, or Psychology.
This is a paid, full-time position where you will gain hands-on experience as a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor, while receiving guidance and mentorship to prepare for your next steps in teacher training.
Programme Overview:
- Classroom Experience: Support teachers in lesson delivery, provide 1:1 and small group support, and help keep students on task.
- Training & CPD: Receive tailored training in teaching strategies, classroom management, lesson delivery, and workshops on educational theory, safeguarding, and special educational needs.
- Support and Mentorship: Be paired with an experienced teacher who will guide your professional development, helping you build teaching skills and confidence.
- Opportunities for Progression: Excelling during the programme may lead to opportunities to apply for teacher training programmes such as PGCE or SCITT through our partner schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting Learning: Reinforce lesson content, provide explanations, and support students academically in small groups or individually.
- Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting behaviour management.
- Engagement: Promote a positive, inclusive classroom culture by actively engaging with students.
- Personal Development: Participate in CPD, mentoring, and feedback sessions to develop your skills.
What Weβre Looking For:
- Qualifications: A degree (or due to graduate in 2025) in English, Maths, Science, Psychology, or a related subject.
- Interest in Teaching: A genuine passion for education and a desire to become a qualified teacher.
- Skills: Strong communication, a proactive attitude, and effective teamwork with young people.
- Personality: Enthusiastic, hardworking, adaptable, and able to thrive in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Experience: Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
