Responsible for leading and developing a dedicated programme management team ensuring the planning and design of the distribution network ensuring system stewardship network security and integrity at all times. Undertaking system analysis to determine load/generation connections, network alterations, reinforcement requirements and to derive solutions in line with Asset Management policies and customer requirements, to enable the connection of Low Carbon Technologies.

Developing & implementing optimised solutions and innovative strategies to enable the completion of robust & coordinated projects within SPD whilst driving optimised value from the regulatory contract facilitating any process, organisational or technological change.

In conjunction with the Project ethos, the team will deliver the EV charger / Heat Pump applications, to facilitate the connection of our customers equipment in line with the BMCS standards.

What you ll be doing

To lead the team in the development of the project delivery ensuring the project vision is maintained in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst maximising return on investment through multiple incentive mechanisms and ensure project business case objectives & benefits are delivered effectively from the team.

Lead the team in the preparation of technical specifications / scopes of work, negotiation of contracts and post-award contract management for any services or technology employed by the project team.

Lead a project team to capture business requirements and drive the development, proof of concept, testing and adoption to business as usual for a successful implementation of projects.

Ensure effective project governance is in-place and maintained through all project activities allowing the wider business and leadership teams to input.

Develop the project team and businesses understanding of operational and network data, particularly collected through innovative solutions and utilise for the betterment of business processes, both financially and otherwise.

Utilise network data to develop the project strategy, project plan and the future vision of the network whilst including all relevant stakeholders considering what a DSO may look like.

Analyse business performance to ensure ongoing improvement of KPIs, delivery of project outputs, and utilisation of equipment to maximise effectiveness across SPD licence to required quality & timescales whilst identifying opportunities for future improvement.

To lead and drive continual performance improvement through analysis of project outputs, KPIs and feedback from internal and external sources whilst effectively manage strategic and specialist delivery partners to ensure annual and overall ED2 targets are met in terms of quality, volumes and financial spend.

To balance efficient project delivery with excellent customer service to ensure works are completed within agreed unit rates and SPEN customer service targets.

Integrate asset stewardship and ownership values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning and delivery activities to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network whilst ensuring engineering design & standards are compliant.

Develop and promote an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities and incorporated into project designs.

Compliance with IBE/SPEN processes and procedures in line with business codes of practice.

Deliver robust project plans to facilitate project deliverables in line with district and licence plans.

Through active customer and stakeholder engagement, support delivery of robust communication activities to facilitate the delivery of project plans and deliverables affecting local communities, customers and stakeholders.

Lead and cultivate team input into wider business forums and steering groups establishing policies, processes and strategy relevant to the project’s goals & objectives.

Expert in Broader Measures Customer Service and Customer Interface systems and sound knowledge/understanding of standards required for project development & delivery in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Proven experience of managing, motivating, coaching and developing teams to ensure each individual’s potential is fully developed and to inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs.

Demonstratable record of managing delivery partners and the associated contracts to ensure excellent quality, value for money and customer service.

Project / programme management experience, with a strong performance ethos and a track record of driving and delivering projects and initiatives.

Working knowledge of CDM and other applicable safety legislation.

Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering leading role within a utility environment.

Expert knowledge of systems delivery and the project life cycle, with good analytical, problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills.

Expert knowledge of design standards up to 33kV.

Expert knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.

Expert skills with network analysis modelling tools.

Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service experience and detailed knowledge of customer experience systems.

  • Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in a project/programme management role.

  • Relevant network construction and operational experience, including knowledge of relevant safety legislation.

  • Contract and contractor management experience.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Proven experience leading in a big data’ analytical team.

  • Good leadership and motivation skills.

  • Experienced in effective stakeholder management through large projects/programmes.
