Our client is a €500m turnover, multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake large turnkey projects for blue-chip clientele, focusing on Data Centres and similar tech-focussed projects. In Ireland, they operate as a generalist main contractor working across various industry sectors including healthcare, residential, education, and industrial.
Due to a recent project win, our client is now seeking a Senior Engineer in Longford.
Responsibilities
- Technical Oversight and Design Review: The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing technical oversight of the design and construction phases, ensuring that all engineering aspects comply with the project requirements, industry standards, and regulations. They may review and approve design documents, ensuring that designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with the technical specifications of the pharma, industrial, or data centre environment.
- Project Coordination and Resource Management: The Senior Engineer coordinates with other engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of all project components. This includes managing and allocating resources (labour, materials, equipment), scheduling tasks, and overseeing the work of junior engineers and other technical staff to ensure that the project progresses efficiently.
- Quality Control and Compliance: In highly regulated sectors like pharma and data centres, the Senior Engineer ensures that all work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for pharma or industry-specific safety standards for data centres). They oversee testing, commissioning, and inspections, ensuring compliance with industry-specific codes and standards.
- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: The Senior Engineer is responsible for identifying and addressing any technical challenges that arise during the project. This could include resolving design issues, managing unexpected site conditions, or troubleshooting operational inefficiencies in systems such as HVAC, electrical, or structural components, particularly in the complex environments of industrial and data centre facilities.
- Health, Safety, and Risk Management: Ensuring a safe working environment is crucial, particularly on projects like data centres or pharma facilities where there are specific safety requirements. The Senior Engineer is responsible for enforcing safety standards, identifying hazards, and ensuring that appropriate risk assessments are conducted.
