About the role:

An experienced Technical QA Manager is required for a well-established building services contractor specialising in large-scale commercial and industrial projects. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in MEP site supervision, quality assurance, and project coordination on fast-paced high-rise residential, student accommodation, or Build-to-Rent (BTR) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage QA processes across in-house and subcontractor teams on-site.
  • Act as a key liaison between site teams, trades, office staff, and the client/main contractor.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, British/European Standards, and contract deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to MEP systems, including fire/life safety, escape of water, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the QHSE Manager and ISO Team in maintaining ISO-9001:2015, ISO-45001:2015, and ISO-14001:2018 quality management processes.
  • Conduct site inspections, verify work quality, and ensure all QA records and handover packs are completed.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for mechanical engineering issues.
  • Oversee training and competency checks for site teams to ensure correct installation techniques.
  • Manage project handovers and post-completion defect resolutions, including reactive call-outs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Maintain detailed site records and assist with audits and compliance checks.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in on-site MEP supervision for fast-paced high-rise projects.
  • City & Guilds qualified Engineer with NVQ3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and subcontractor management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and customer portals (e.g., Fieldview, Aconex).
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of project timelines and deliverables.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home during the working week.

Desirable Skills:

  • SSSTS or SMSTS (CITB) certification.
  • Knowledge of Procore software and other project management tools.
  • Experience in carbon and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Additional certifications such as PASMA, MEWP, Asbestos (Non-licensed), First Aid at Work, Unvented Hot Water, and Scaffold Inspection.
