Job Purpose: To maintain, renew, and install street lighting, traffic signs, traffic signals, and associated electrical work, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose faults in street lighting, traffic signs, and other electrical systems.
  • Identify and report electrical or structural defects in installations.
  • Perform electrical installation work in various buildings according to IEE Regulations.
  • Erect and remove signs and lighting columns as needed.
  • Maintain, adjust, and repair electrical installations and equipment.
  • Interpret technical instructions and implement manufacturers' modifications.
  • Maintain personal tools and equipment in good condition and ensure safe working practices.
  • Organize work, requisition materials, and maintain accurate records of tasks performed.
  • Mentor apprentices and participate in training as required.
  • Operate specialist hydraulic platform vehicles and plant tools for maintenance and installation.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures, ensuring the safety of the public and team members.
  • Comply with quality standards, departmental rules, and attend necessary meetings and conferences.

Special Conditions:

  • The role may require evening, weekend, and out-of-hours work to meet contractual demands.
  • Must be available for emergency and high-speed roadwork, following additional safety procedures.
  • Residence within reasonable distance of the depot is required.
  • Flexibility and adherence to attendance and timekeeping policies are essential.

Qualifications:

  • New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA)
  • City & Guilds Parts 1&2 Electrical Installation
  • 16th Edition IEE Wiring Regs or above
  • AM1 Practical Exam (Minimum)
  • HEA/HERS registered
  • Valid Driving Licence
