An exciting opportunity has arisen for a bright and driven sales professional to join a fast-growing business that develops and delivers innovative insurance solutions tailored for the automotive sector, specifically motor dealerships. The company works with a prestigious portfolio of clients, including 8 of the UK’s top 20 dealer groups.

Role Overview

The Development Manager will play a key role in driving financial growth by increasing the penetration of insurance sales across a wide-ranging client base. This is a highly varied and field-based position that requires excellent interpersonal and commercial skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong, long-term relationships with mid- and senior-level dealership management, analysing performance data, delivering training, and supporting sales teams with tailored development programmes aimed at maximising insurance sales and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key client personnel and Regional Development Managers.
  • Manage a consistent schedule of dealership visits to ensure account visibility and performance tracking.
  • Implement development programmes with dealership sales teams, including performance analysis, training delivery, and action planning.
  • Conduct regional and group performance reviews, agreeing on strategies to improve results.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate sales teams to achieve agreed targets.
  • Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities, including the successful launch of new insurance products.
  • Create and deliver bespoke training materials to support client needs.
  • Provide detailed reporting through sales trackers and CRM systems.
  • Represent the business at industry conferences, awards events, and client hospitality engagements.
  • Liaise with internal departments including marketing, technical, and compliance to support project and client objectives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of client businesses, market conditions, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Promote and operate within the company’s compliance standards at all times.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in sales, business development, or account management—ideally within the automotive, insurance, or financial services sectors.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience working in a high-pressure, target-focused environment with frequent travel.
  • The ability to build rapport and strong working relationships quickly.
  • Excellent analytical and organisational abilities.
  • A full UK driving licence.
