Gap technical are looking for a Project Engineer responsible for designing, executing, and managing small capital investment projects (under £250k). The primary objective is to ensure that capital funds are efficiently allocated and aligned with the business's strategic goals. Working closely with the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will manage key elements of project delivery, including contractor oversight, compliance with safety standards, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Planning & Scope Definition: Define the full scope of work for capital projects and produce clear specifications for tender submissions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Tendering & Contract Management: Oversee the tendering process, ensuring fairness and transparency. Manage contract negotiations, finalizing terms and conditions in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Capital Submission & Budgeting: Prepare and submit Capital Submissions, ensuring proper budgeting and timeline management for project implementation. Track project expenditures and maintain financial control throughout the process.
- Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal stakeholders such as the Operations Manager, Engineering, Hygiene, and technical teams to ensure smooth project execution. Develop and manage project timelines, ensuring coordination across departments.
- Risk Management & Conflict Resolution: Actively identify and manage project risks, addressing any schedule or operational conflicts to maintain project momentum.
- Design Approval & Compliance: Approve designs to ensure they comply with PUWER, DSEAR, and Food Safety standards. Ensure all safety and operational guidelines are adhered to in the design phase.
- Health & Safety Oversight: Review and approve RAMS before project commencement. Manage safety protocols on-site, conduct H&S audits, and induct contractors on site health and safety policies. Complete required safety and project documentation, including the CDM health and safety file.
- On-Site Oversight: Manage high-risk activities on-site, issuing work permits and conducting safety checks in line with Deeside Cereals' policies. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout project implementation.
- Project Status Reporting: Provide regular updates to stakeholders through status reports, stage gate reviews, and project progress reports. Ensure clear communication regarding project milestones and risks.
- Food Safety, Quality & Legality: Remain vigilant in maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality, and legal compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engineering Qualification (Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
- Strong experience with CAPEX project delivery in food manufacturing, FMCG, or engineering industries.
- Proven ability to manage contractors and high-risk activities on-site, including issuing work permits.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a structured, methodical approach.
