Remote UK or Hybrid working (Edinburgh). Locogen is a renewable energy company. Our work is innovative and varied across Wind, Solar PV, Battery Storage (BESS) and Hydrogen. We have grown significantly over the last year and have ambitious plans.

The role is focused on managing the development of our onshore Wind portfolio from site identification, initial site assessment and feasibility through the development phases, including site acquisition, full planning and grid connection. It is a busy role, managing wind projects from 30MW upwards, working with our multidisciplinary team and contractors. It would suit someone with a good grounding in the planning stages of renewable energy projects who has either worked on the developments side or in a consulting capacity.

Some of the things you may find yourself doing:

  • Managing Site identification and Acquisition: including managing the team for GIS constraint mapping; forming relationships with DNO’s, land agents etc; visiting land-owners to encourage them to sign up and managing negotiations of A&E, HOT, Option and lease agreements.
  • Project Development and Consenting: including managing projects through feasibility and consenting phases and leading on appeals; liaising and communicating with stakeholders; ensuring great public relations and engagement; and leading on developing shared community ownership models for relevant sites.
  • Strategic Planning: Working with senior managers to set the development strategy for equity investment; helping to set short, medium and long-term objectives; and considering opportunities for innovation and new technologies.
  • Management and Reporting: Managing and working with Locogen’s Consulting Team and subcontractors; updating and reporting on progress, budget position, risks etc.; and improving our internal systems and commercial models.
  • Other activities: Undertaking critical reviews of third-party reports, drawings, specifications and designs.

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience managing the development of projects through the feasibility, consenting and construction phases.
  • Excellent understanding of the renewable energy and low carbon market, latest policies, strategies and trends in the industry and a good understanding of future development opportunities.
  • A planning background.
  • An existing network of contacts in the sector.
  • Full driving license (valid for UK).

  • Experience in a leadership role.
