The Role
As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for delivering a wide variety of ecological projects. You will collaborate with technical specialists, mentor junior team members, and engage with clients to provide expert advice.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and deliver ecological surveys, including protected species assessments and habitat assessments.
- Manage complex ecological projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality outcomes.
- Support and mentor junior ecologists, fostering growth and sharing your expertise.
- Contribute to business development by building relationships with clients and identifying new opportunities.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams to deliver nature-based solutions that leave a lasting impact.
About You
You will be an experienced ecologist with a strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, habitat assessments, and protected species surveys. You will have excellent project management skills and the ability to nurture junior team members.
Essential:
- Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of ecological survey methodologies, species identification, and relevant environmental legislation.
- Experience in managing projects and mentoring team members.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
- A proactive attitude with a passion for promoting sustainable solutions.
Desirable:
- Level 2 bat licence or ornithological expertise (highly valued).
- Experience delivering training for junior ecologists.
- Knowledge of GIS/CAD tools for survey planning and data management.
