We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join my clients IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimising our Azure cloud infrastructure, leading the migration from on-premises systems to Azure, and setting up and maintaining SQL databases and Servers. The role will also involve managing a VMware environment and ensuring system performance, security, and scalability across our hybrid infrastructure., Azure Cloud Management & Migration:

Lead the migration of on-premises systems to Microsoft Azure, ensuring minimal disruption and downtime.

Design, deploy, and manage Azure infrastructure services, including virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and Azure Active Directory.

Implement Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and other disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.

Optimise cloud infrastructure to ensure cost-efficiency and scalability.
SQL Server Setup & Management:

Install, configure, and manage SQL databases and Servers within both on-premises and Azure environments.

Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.

Optimise SQL Server performance, including indexing, query optimisation, and troubleshooting.

Implement and manage SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups for high availability.
VMware Environment Management:

Maintain, update, and support the VMware vSphere environment, ensuring high availability and performance of virtual machines.

Troubleshoot and manage VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter, ensuring effective virtualisation management.

Integrate VMware workloads with Azure and support hybrid cloud infrastructure as needed.
Security & Compliance:

Ensure the security and compliance of the Azure cloud infrastructure, databases, and on-premises environments in line with best practices and organisational policies.

Implement Firewalls, VPNs, and other security mechanisms to protect data and systems.
Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC):

Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or PowerShell.

Continuously improve deployment processes, reducing manual intervention and improving efficiency.
Collaboration & Documentation:

Collaborate with other IT teams, including developers, network administrators, and security specialists, to support system integrations and ensure seamless operations.

Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure design, configurations, and processes for both on-premises and cloud environments.

5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a focus on Microsoft Azure, VMware, and SQL Server.

Proven track record of migrating on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure.

Strong experience with SQL Server installation, configuration, and performance tuning in both on-premises and cloud environments.

Extensive experience in managing VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter for virtualisation.

Proficiency in automation and Scripting using PowerShell, Terraform, or other automation tools.

Strong knowledge of networking concepts (IP Addressing, DNS, VPNs) and security best practices.

Certification in Microsoft Azure (eg, Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) and/or VMware (eg, VCP) preferred.
