We are looking for a Junior Project Engineer on a permanent basis in the Abertillery area with experience in the manufacturing and assembly industry. You will work cross-functionally between the Design, Quality and Manufacturing teams and have full management from design concepts through to handover. You will also oversee product improvement and obsolescence processes and procedures. It's an exciting opportunity to work for a company that has substantially grown over the last 5 years with great career opportunities. They are manufacturers of mechanical and special purpose machinery systems, taking things from design through to manufacture, assembly and installation.

The Junior Project Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Qualified in Engineering ideally (NVQ / HNC / HND / Degree or similar) OR work-based experience
  • Previous experience working in a similar role with Project Management training
  • Mechanical or Electrical experience
  • Able to work well alone as well as part of a team
  • Able to verbally communicate effectively at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Committed to learning and self-development

The Junior Project Engineer role will involve:

  • Maintaining project progress
  • Procurement and delivery of production tooling and equipment
  • Liaising with customers regarding project updates
  • Maintaining project cost documents
  • Working with the Head of Projects in interpreting clients' requirements whilst working with internal & external stakeholders and suppliers for effective conclusion of contracts
  • Working with ERP systems including BOMs
  • Coordinating activities for continuous improvement and involvement in kaizen activities
  • Product obsolescence planning
  • Handling quality and work instruction documentation
  • Being involved in product re-design and improvement costing
