A highly respected secondary school in South London is seeking a passionate and dedicated Sociology Teacher to join their team from 22nd April 2025 on a temporary agency basis. The successful candidate will teach Sociology and Criminology at KS4 and KS5, along with Citizenship at KS3. This is a fantastic opportunity for an educator who is passionate about the social sciences and committed to helping students develop both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Sociology and Criminology at KS4 and KS5, encouraging critical thinking and engaging students with contemporary social issues.
  • Deliver Citizenship lessons at KS3, helping students understand their roles and responsibilities in society.
  • Complete lesson planning and marking to ensure an effective and structured learning environment.
  • Attend parent consultations as required, providing feedback on student progress.
  • Take on the responsibility of a tutor group or provide tutor group cover when needed.
  • Participate in one twenty-minute break duty per week, supporting student welfare during break times.
  • Provide general cover for other subjects when not teaching Sociology.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Sociology and Criminology at KS4 and KS5, and experience teaching Citizenship at KS3.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Experience in marking and lesson planning to maintain high teaching standards.
  • Ability to engage with students, parents, and staff to promote student development.
  • Flexibility to contribute to other duties such as tutor group support and general cover.
