Role Summary
As part of this role, the candidate should expect to carry out work within the following areas:
- Programme Planning and shaping: support clients to articulate their needs and aspirations for their programmes. Translate these needs into deliverable outputs with others across Engineering Services.
- Ensure the programmes meet the client’s needs and deliver high-quality, cost-effective projects and evidence the value for money.
- Demonstrate the skills and ability to lead a complex programme of work; introducing structured governance, mapping resources, clear stakeholder engagement and communication planning and linkages necessary to achieve the desired programme outcomes.
- Liaise with others within Engineering Services to identify and illustrate forward workload to support business planning.
- Combine different project, programme and workstream programmes into a single master programme for Engineering Services to support the management of the forward workload and continuous improvement.
- Be the best practice lead for Microsoft Project and the application of it within Engineering Services. Responsible for designing template programmes relating to the diverse projects and programmes delivered by Engineering Services. Establish common standard working practice for all programmes to follow. Audit when required the appropriate use of programmes and develop to ensure lessons learnt and market intelligence are reflected in new templates.
- Carry out scenario planning / optioneering and issue resolution.
- Analysis and development: ensure programme data is analysed and trends with performance and market conditions are captured.
- Seek and enable connections across teams.
- Facilitate workshops to support the management and delivery of projects, programmes and workstreams.
- Deliver Primavera P6 training to the Project & Programme Management team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Appropriate knowledge, experience and training in the use of planning software such as Primavera P6, Asta, MSP.
- A sound understanding of the NEC Contracts clauses and principles.
- Recent and relevant experience as a planner managing programmes of work or similar.
- Strong communication skills - able to influence and make sound judgements in varied and complex situations.
- Strong personal organisational ability and project management skills - ability to manage a range of complex issues.
Decision Making Areas
- Ability to generate sound solutions to complex problems.
- Detailed knowledge of technical software applied to the NEC contract and construction processes.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid working (mixture of working at home and in the office), with occasional visits to live sites.
- Communicating with colleagues and contractors in a professional manner to resolve contractual entitlements.
- Some manual handling requirements (up to 5kg).
