The successful Contracts Manager will be home-based and will need to reside in one of the following postcode areas BN, RH, KT, SM. Working as part of a strong team (both office & field based), dealing with property repairs (insurance reinstatement works) within a designated patch. Ideally, this would suit a Contracts Manager who is keen to expand their current skills and experience (residential repairs / extensions / renovations) into specialising within the insurance industry.
Insurance industry experience is not necessarily essential (although desirable) but you will need to be keen to learn the principles of insurance and have a background in dealing with residential property refurbishments/renovations. There are genuine opportunities to progress into more senior roles and/or train within the subsidence speciality over time (additional training & support can also be provided in terms of qualifications & memberships).
You will need to be very IT confident & will ideally have experience in building a scope of works using a schedule of rates; if you have used a scoping tool/system this would be ideal.
Contracts Manager role and responsibilities:
- Manage a case load of property reinstatement projects (domestic & commercial)
- Schedule repairs/redecoration works and produce scopes
- Manage contractors and repairs projects to completion (inc. cost management)
- Ensure Health & Safety / CDM compliance & carry out site audits
- Identify new contractors for addition to the network as required
- Performance manage/audit the contractors in your area
What skills/experience will you need?
- Experience in contract managing property refurbishments / renovation projects is essential.
- Some insurance claim damage or subsidence experience/knowledge would be ideal as you will be dealing with the post subsidence stabilisation reinstatement works (i.e. crack repairs/redecoration etc.).
- Experience working for a contractor/social housing provider dealing with residential repairs/renovations.
- Knowledge of insurance claims or fire/flood/water/structural damage to properties would be highly advantageous (not essential).
- Working knowledge of; Asbestos Handling, CDM, DPA, H&S, Party Wall Act.
- You will need strong customer service, communication & organisational skills, be IT literate and have a full UK driving licence.
