Design Authority

Permanent Reading – Hybrid working.

MBNL deliver the mobile infrastructure that enables digital Britain. This is achieved by providing Property, Infrastructure and Operational services to EE/BT and Three.

The Infrastructure directorate is accountable for the design, deployment and in life management of site infrastructure to meet safety, service and deployment requirements and enable EE/BT and Three to deliver their best customer experiences at the lowest cost. Reporting into the MBNL Infrastructure Directorate, the Design Authority team work together to provide technical support to Internal, EE/BT and Three teams within their specific subject matter along with supporting the publication of Standards and Design Documentation to ensure consistency across all levels of works to sites. This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week onsite in our Central Reading office.

What you will do:

  • Author Technical Documentation and peer review relevant partner documentation or be confident in briefing responsible designers to author/review within the supply chain.
  • Support Bi-Monthly technical forums with Partners, EE/BT and Three.
  • Lead decisions on requests for site specific deviation from policy.
  • Be technical authority over strategic documentation, owning documentation within specific Subject Matter Expert (SME) area.
  • Authoring or supporting the publication of design documentation as required, to shape the Design and Maintenance of the MBNL network.
  • Be a point of escalation for technical queries internally and from EE/BT and Three.
  • Review, discuss and make decisions on site specific concessions from project upgrades.
  • Identify and track potential network-wide defects, collaborating with other SMEs to mitigate risks across the MBNL site portfolio.
  • Co-ordinate with Contractors, SMEs, and internal MBNL teams, using effective communication so projects can progress.

What we are looking for:

  • Specialism in either Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Environmental, through experience.
  • Experience in Technical Document writing.
  • Strong understanding of structural, mechanical, or civil systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant Legislation and Regulations, along with existing publicly available technical guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.

Nice to have:

  • HNC or degree level qualifications in either Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Environmental subject or similar engineering discipline.
  • Experience in Telecoms infrastructure.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Member of relevant Engineering Council or Institution.
