Job overview:
- Coordinate purchasing activities with relevant departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers where required.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and ensure components are purchased and expedited for production requirements.
- Purchase components at the correct specification and price, delivered to the agreed delivery schedule, in time for production start dates.
- Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. material, components).
- Monitor the cost schedule and scope of assigned subcontractors to negotiate highest quality and best value.
- Develop new supplier sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
- Recommend cost saving proposals.
Responsibilities:
- Initial management and purchasing of components as presented by company MRP.
- Escalate any issues to the senior buyer or purchasing manager.
- Assist with the sourcing/resourcing of components needed imminently for production.
- Raise purchase orders from purchase requisitions.
- Act as first line of escalation for delivery issues from the expeditor.
- Source correct components at the best price from the right vendors in line with company strategies and requirements.
- Support with sharing market intelligence to the relevant internal departments – inclusive of lead time or supply issues, price fluctuations, product obsolescence and franchise information.
- Ensure system data is accurate and fit for purpose.
- Assist with the timely resolution of invoice, delivery or quality disputes.
- Work with the relevant internal departments to resolve delivery issues.
- Act as first line of support for any immediate production shortages.
- Support the purchasing manager and senior buyer with supply base optimisation.
- Support the implementation and ongoing use of business strategies.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 Years Experience.
- Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply and a member of (CIPS) desirable.
- Electronics manufacturing and/or CEM background desirable.
- Strong MS Office skills and experience with MRP.
- Excellent negotiation, customer service and consulting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
