We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer to join our dynamic team in London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge Mainframe systems, helping clients migrate and optimize their environments using our advanced software solutions. You will collaborate closely with sales, pre-sales, consulting, and technical support teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of our Mainframe technologies. This is a hybrid role that offers flexibility while providing exposure to high-profile projects within a globally recognized organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales, technical pre-sales, consulting, and technical support teams on all aspects of SLC software for the z/OS Mainframe platform.
- Provide expert advice to prospective customers on migrating SAS language applications to SLC software.
- Support customers in installing and configuring our software, tools, and utilities to analyse their SAS language environments.
- Analyse and profile SAS language usage within prospective customers' z/OS environments using proprietary and standard Mainframe tools.
- Develop and maintain data analytics to generate reports for customer environments and support migration planning.
- Define and implement new IT architectures and solutions required for customers migrating to SLC software.
- Engage in cross-platform interactions between Mainframe and distributed systems when required.
- Deliver training, demonstrations, and technical support for customers on SLC software installation and configuration.
- Drive SLC implementation and migration projects, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Optimize application performance to ensure efficient execution of SAS-based applications with SLC software.
- Prepare and present technical project plans and architecture designs to customers and internal teams.
- Participate in ongoing knowledge-sharing initiatives to expand Mainframe and SAS language expertise within the organization.
- Provide feedback to the product development team to improve and enhance SLC software.
- Develop additional tools and utilities to support sales and implementation processes.
Skills & Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in z/OS Mainframe environments and possess a strong background in system programming.
Essential Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of IBM Mainframe software products and utilities.
- Expertise in z/OS systems administration and operation, including: TSO/ISPF, JCL, JES2, USS, SDSF, SMF, RMFDB2, SQL, REXX, z/OS Assembler, HOSTSORT (DFSORT/SYNCSORT/CASORT).
- Proven experience in SAS system administration and SAS-based business application development on mainframes.
- Experience with MICS, SAS/ITRM, and MXG.
- Knowledge of z/Linux and zCX Containers is highly desirable.
Additional Key Skills:
- Customer-facing experience, including running workshops, technical demonstrations, and status calls.
- Ability to define and execute project plans, ensuring visibility and accountability.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking and system administration across mainframes and distributed platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience using the SAS language on distributed platforms (Windows, Linux).
- Strong ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
